Mechanism of Action:

Oxybutynin is an anticholinergic medication primarily used to treat overactive bladder and urinary incontinence. It works by blocking muscarinic receptors in the bladder, which reduces bladder muscle contractions (smooth muscle spasms), leading to decreased urinary urgency and frequency.

Effect on fertility biomarkers

Oxybutynin is not typically associated with direct effects on fertility. However, anticholinergic effects such as dry mouth, constipation, or changes in sexual function may indirectly influence quality of life. There is no strong evidence indicating that Oxybutynin significantly affects reproductive health or fertility in men or women. However, its use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally avoided unless absolutely necessary.
