Mechanism of Action:

Liothyronine sodium (T3) is the active form of thyroid hormone. It binds to thyroid receptors in cells, directly regulating metabolism and energy production. T3 works faster and is more potent than T4. It is primarily used to treat hypothyroidism and myxedema coma, particularly when rapid action is needed.

Effect on fertility biomarkers

T3 increases body temperature by boosting metabolism and thermogenesis. While free T4 has a more direct impact on cycle length, T3 still contributes to overall thyroid hormone balance, which can affect the menstrual cycle. Increased thyroid hormone levels may cause longer follicular phases without affecting luteal phase length, potentially altering the menstrual cycle.
