There is no evidence that cetirizine negatively affects female fertility. Animal and clinical data suggest that it does not interfere with ovulation, implantation, or hormonal balance when used in standard therapeutic doses. It is generally considered safe for women of reproductive age.
However, as an antihistamine, cetirizine may slightly reduce mucosal secretions, which can include a mild drying effect on the cervical mucus. This effect is usually minor and reversible but may, in some sensitive women, lead to thicker or reduced cervical fluid. For users of fertility awareness methods (FAM/NFP), this can make cycle observations more difficult, as fertile-type cervical mucus may appear reduced or temporarily absent during medication use. Recording days of antihistamine intake in the fertility chart is recommended, and cervical secretions typically return to normal within one to two days after discontinuation
